Disappointing Performance…
24/03/2024 15:07
Firstly, the laptop has a stunning build quality and an amazing screen. The screen is exceptionally bright and can be used fine outside in the sunlight, particularly due to the anti-reflective screen. The touchscreen compatibility is a nice touch and adds another element of how the laptop can be used. It is relatively light and sturdy, though could be a little bit lighter.
However, the main purpose of the laptop and it's usability is what lets it down. It is absolutely shocking just how poorly optimised the performance of this laptop is right out of the box. There is so much bloatware that even when sitting idle, the fans were kicking into overdrive. Simply trying to open a few tabs on a browser caused the laptop to lag. It is highly disappointing and given the specs of the laptop, very shocking.
The battery drain has also been poor. Watching some videos on YouTube whilst on half brightness and optimised battery mode caused it to drop significantly. It would not last any decent length of time before needing to rush to charge it.
Having searched for advice on this, it seems others have had similar experiences. Poor performance and poor battery life. The solution appears to be reinstalling a clean copy of Windows, in order to remove all of Samsung's bloatware.
Out of the box, this laptop simply is not good enough to justify the extortionate price tag. Currently, the state of the laptop's performance is shambolic. Samsung need to push updates out to optimise the stability and performance, which can hopefully rectify a lot of these issues.
